RobOS Documentation

Welcome to the official (and only slightly painful) documentation for RobOS — the Linux distribution that teaches you more by giving you less.

📌 What is RobOS?

RobOS is a minimal, intentionally brutal Linux distribution designed for people who believe Ubuntu is "too easy" and LFS is "a warm-up exercise".

You get almost nothing — no GUI, no package manager (except maybe wget), and a repo that proudly contains exactly one text file.

✔ But hey, at least you learn the Linux kernel better than with LFS

RobOS is so brutally minimal that you’ll understand the Linux kernel faster, deeper, and more painfully than with Linux From Scratch.

Because unlike LFS, which at least gives you a full handbook, RobOS gives you:

You don’t learn Linux by reading — you learn by suffering, compiling, failing, and fixing everything manually.

If LFS teaches you how Linux works, RobOS teaches you why Linux works, how it breaks, and how to repair it when it hates you.

⚠ Installation

The installation process is extremely simple:

  1. Boot RobOS
  2. Realize nothing works
  3. Open Bash (your only friend)
  4. Use wget to download the things you miss
  5. Find out that everything you downloaded needs 200 other dependencies
  6. Reconsider your life choices

📦 Repository ("Repo")

The official RobOS repo contains exactly:

That’s it. No packages. No binaries. Pure freedom. Pure pain.

🎯 Design Goals

✨ FastFetch for RobOS

A planned feature: a custom RobOS FastFetch showing system info and proving you're insane enough to run RobOS.
